The US Department of Homeland Security released a statement on Tuesday warning of a rise in infections from the LokiBot malware, a particularly nasty piece of code spreading among Windows machines.
According to Ars Technica, the malware contains a whole suite of malicious software that makes it the weapon of choice for criminal syndicates such as Nigeria’s SilverTerrier. Among its capabilities is a keylogger, password theft scripts, and the ability to open up backdoors on infected systems for remote control. It can steal credentials from over 100 different applications, including cryptocurrency wallets.
